Chainsaw Man
A personal 3D project built entirely within Blender — a character study based on Chainsaw Man, the acclaimed manga and anime series. The goal was to produce a high-quality, faithful recreation of the character using a single application from start to finish, developing and refining skills across the full production pipeline.
Creative Direction
The project focused on capturing the raw, visceral energy of the source material — the mechanical brutality of the chainsaw appendages, and the eerie stillness of the helmet. Every modelling and shading decision was guided by the original character design, with an emphasis on surface detail, material believability, and dramatic lighting to give the final render a cinematic quality.
Keeping the entire workflow within Blender was a deliberate creative constraint — a way of pushing the tool to its limits and building a deeper understanding of what it can achieve without external dependencies.

Production & Process
The YouTube video documents the majority of the creation process (some at 4× speed for repetitive tasks), covering modelling, UV unwrapping, texturing, and lighting. From approximately the 35-minute mark, real-time segments are included to walk through the construction of specific details in closer focus. The full video is timestamped throughout for easy navigation between stages.
Texturing was completed entirely within Blender’s native tools. A future iteration of this project may incorporate Substance Painter for additional surface complexity — but for this version, the single-application approach was the point.
